Angel Aura Project

The Angel Aura Project is aptly named after the Angel Aura Quartz because the qualities associated with the stone resonate deeply with the project's mission. Angel Aura Quartz is known for its iridescent, uplifting appearance and is believed to promote inner peace, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of oneself and others. These qualities mirror the goals of the Angel Aura Project, which aims to foster peace, harmony, and personal growth among high school students.

Just as the stone is said to help individuals connect with higher realms and promote a sense of calm and positivity, the Angel Aura Project seeks to create a supportive environment where students can engage in meaningful discussions about discrimination and harassment. By anchoring these discussions in real-world experiences, the project encourages students to develop empathy, understanding, and respect—essential qualities for combating prejudice and promoting inclusion.

In essence, the name "Angel Aura" reflects the project's commitment to bringing light, positivity, and transformative change to the lives of young people, much like the stone itself is believed to do for those who hold it. The project's goal of empowering students to become advocates for change aligns perfectly with the stone's symbolic association with spiritual upliftment and inner harmony.

OVERVIEW

In today’s world, where diversity is ever-increasing, and global connectivity is the norm, it is imperative to educate young minds about the various forms of prejudice that exist. The Angel Aura Project, a crucial initiative, is designed to bring high school students together to discuss and address real discrimination and harassment within their communities. The Angel Aura Project serves as a forum for students to learn about, reflect on, and combat the prejudices that affect individuals in their everyday lives. While most high school students understand that discrimination and harassment is real, they unfortunately are unable to put it in the context of real-world occurrences.

Empowering Students Through Real-World Learning

By gathering and using trial, depositions, and Congressional transcripts of real experiences described by real victims or real perpetrators, our goal is to anchor the concepts of discrimination and harassment to tangible events. In doing this, the Angel Aura Project not only creates a safe and supportive environment where high school students can engage in open dialogues about discrimination and harassment but also inspires them to become advocates for change. The vision is to empower students to foster empathy, understanding, and respect for all community members. By discussing real-world issues and personal experiences, students will gain a deeper insight into the complexities of prejudice and the importance of inclusion.

The Project can be structured as a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions, along with weekly club meetings. Each week, students can read and discuss transcripts that demonstrate racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, and other forms of prejudice. Throughout the year, the club members will select portions from the transcripts that they find particularly impactful and present them as part of a testimonial theater.

Building Critical Skills and Fostering Empathy

Participating in the Angel Aura Project will provide numerous benefits for high school students. They will develop critical thinking skills as they analyze the roots and impacts of discrimination. Their communication skills will be enhanced as they articulate their ideas and listen to the experiences of others. Importantly, students will build empathy, learning to see the world from perspectives different from their own.

Creating a Lasting Impact on Communities

Moreover, the project will equip students with the tools to become proactive members of their communities. They will learn how to stand up against injustice, support those who are marginalized, and promote equality and respect. These skills and values are crucial not only for their personal development but also for their future roles as leaders and global citizens.
